Lend
a Helping Heart & Hand... Volunteer!
We are
called about everything... so
much more than rescuing dogs and cats. We act as a sort of clearing house, we assist
people in finding solutions to their problems. We want to teach the humane treatment
of all animals. We are really here to create a humane
society."

Adoption Counselor
|
Position
currently unavailable CCHS' Adopt-A-Friend program is dedicated to
finding permanent, caring homes for animals in need. The best opportunity to do so is by
allowing the public to meet our foster animals! CCHS is currently looking for
dedicated and committed volunteers to spend 3-4 hours, once or twice a month on a weekend
day, to introduce our foster animals to the public. Adoption events take place
locally in Pleasant Hill and Lafayette and hours and days are flexible. This
position would best be suited for someone who enjoys talking to the public, is comfortable
handling dogs and cats, and is able to commit to one or two weekend days each month.
Volunteers must be a minimum of 18 years of age for an Adoption Counselor position. |
Community Outreach |
Volunteers
represent CCHS at information tables or special events by; distributing literature,
spreading the word about the importance of spaying/neutering; and encouraging community
support of CCHS programs and services. |
Fundraising
|
Volunteers are needed to solicit donations of goods and services
for our annual raffle, and to seek financial support from the local business community. |
Mailings
|
About 4 times each year we get together to fold, staple, label,
sort and bundle the CCHS newsletter. You, too, can know the joys of bulk mail processing!
While the work may not be stimulating, the conversation is usually lively. This is a good
way to get to know your fellow volunteers and requires just a few hours of your time each
quarter. Newsletters can also be taken home for processing if more convenient. |
Member, Board of Directors
|
Grow and
enhance CCHS while working with a diverse and dedicated team of volunteers.
Expertise in one or more of the following areas is desired: fundraising,
finance/accounting, human resources, legal, marketing/publicity, veterinary care. |
Newsletter
|
Volunteers
research and write articles on animal-welfare topics for our newsletters (3-4 per year).
Those skilled in editing and layout assistance are also needed. |
SNAP (Spay/Neuter Assistance Program) Counselor
|
By
responding to telephone inquiries, dispensing advice and information, making referrals to
veterinary clinics and arranging necessary financial assistance for
spay/neuter surgeries, SNAP volunteers have a positive impact on the dog and cat
overpopulation crisis. This program ensures that no companion animals, even strays, go
unaltered because of financial hardship. A minimum commitment of 2-3 hours per week is
desired. |

Contact us to
volunteer today. If each of us helps a little, we can do a lot.
