Help the Animals of Hurricane Katrina

Mimi.WooferT.jpg (166271 bytes)

CCHS has been working with local rescue groups to ensure that Hurricane Katrina animals are brought to safety after their devastating ordeal in August 2005.  With the generous help of public donations, both monetary and supply, thousands of animals are being cared for in foster and permanent homes.  While rescue efforts continue, CCHS is glad to be able to assist in helping these homeless animals.

Donations from the public have provided food, shelter and medical care to thousands of Hurricane Katrina animals.  Further, donations have been made to aid in the rebuilding of Gulf shelters destroyed in the hurricane.  Continued support will ensure that these homeless animals continue to receive the needed care.

CCHS is no longer in need of foster homes for Katrina animals; however, we are still looking for more foster homes for the animals that we rescue from local animal shelters and the public.  The foster situation is the same... the only difference is from where the animal comes to us.  Please visit our foster page to learn more about what CCHS does for local animals in need.  These animals desperately need your help also, as they may not have a tomorrow without your generosity.

Paws for thought... Just this year alone, 3-4 million animals will be euthanized - more than a quarter-million each month, 405 each hour,       one every nine seconds.

A devastating number of unwanted and unplanned animals are born each year without the guarantee of a forever home.  Each home found for these animals means one less home for an already-alive shelter animal facing euthanasia.  If you could do something simple to help end this needless destruction, wouldn't you?

PLEASE spay, neuter, adopt and spread the word!

We can all make a difference in the lives of these animals.
