Operation Rescue Paws
In May 2012, CCHS began a partnership with Contra Costa County Animal Services Department, Southern Oregon Humane Society in Medford, Oregon, and Curry County Animal Shelter/Pennies for Pooches in Gold Beach, Oregon to help save more at-risk dogs in Contra Costa County. Operation Rescue Paws took flight!
Many states do not face the same overpopulation crisis that is seen in California animal shelters. To help save lives, Operation Rescue Paws transports at-risk dogs by private plane or car to either Southern Oregon Humane Society or Curry County Animal Shelter/Pennies for Pooches when space is available at their shelters. There, they can be guaranteed adoption. All of the animals are spayed or neutered and vaccinated before being transferred or adopted.
If you would like to help these dogs on their journey to safety, please consider donating to the cost of their spays/neuters and temporary foster care. Any amount is much appreciated, and will literally mean the safety of one more furry little life!

Transports happen every 1-2 months, depending upon space at receiving shelters. We appreciate your support!
