Spay/Neuter Assistance Program

SNAP is one of only a handful of programs available in Contra Costa County that provides financial assistance to low-income county residents looking to have their companion dog or cat altered.

SNAP also works with low-income feral caretakers in altering feral cats through the process of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR). As CCHS does not operate a veterinary hospital, SNAP works with a number of veterinary clinics within the county who provide low-cost services to our organization.

Spay/Neuter surgeries are performed at low-cost veterinary clinics throughout Contra Costa County.  Each animal that is funded through CCHS's SNAP program costs CCHS an average of $52.00.  This is an average cost and takes into account both spays and neuters for cats and dogs.  CCHS does not operate a veterinary clinic and does not perform these surgeries.  This is the average cost reimbursed to local, affordable veterinary hospitals with which CCHS's SNAP program works.
