Foster Program
Local animal shelters work hard every single day to find homes for the many animals taking refuge at their facilities...however, we can all work together to help these animals in need. At Contra Costa Humane Society, we strive to help the local shelters by taking animals from their facilities and placing them in foster homes. As we do not operate a shelter, we rely solely on local volunteer foster families to provide the love and care necessary for these transitional animals. Therefore, we are only allowed to save as many animals as we have available foster homes! Animals can be in need of rescue for any number of reasons - a medical concern or behavioral concern that needs addressing, too young, too old, or not have had any interest from the public - those are the animals most in need of foster love, as without help and some TLC, they will not be adopted.
CCHS's foster care comes at no cost to you. CCHS pays for all food, supplies and medical expenses needed for your foster animal. If you are able to provide a and loving temporary environment for these animals, you are directly responsible for giving them a second chance in life! Foster animals are given age-appropriate vaccinations and temperament tested before being placed in foster homes. Before being adopted, they are spayed/neutered and microchipped.
Please consider being a CCHS Foster ... these animals may not have a tomorrow without your generosity.
