Free to a Good Home?

Finding good homes for unwanted pets is not easy, as far more pets are born each year than can ever be placed in homes.  Just "getting rid" of an animal and passing it on to someone without careful investigation can condemn the dog or cat to an uncertain, sometimes brutal future of suffering and neglect. "FREE" puppies or kittens sometimes die as bait for pit bull fighters, food for boa constrictors or are peddled to laboratories for experiments.  Please do not give pets away for "FREE" to someone you do not know.

When finding a new home for an animal, be sure to ask an adoption fee from anyone you don't personally know.  Any potential adopter should expect to pay an adoption fee and place a monetary value on the animal.  While you may not be looking to "profit" from your animal, consider it a tool to safeguard the well-being of your four-legged friend.  If you are truly not comfortable accepting money for your animal, have the adopter write a check to the charity of your or their choice, and you be responsible for mailing the check to the organization.

Your animal trusts you with its life.  Don't give any animal away for free.

Paws for thought... Just this year alone, 3-4 million animals will be euthanized - more than a quarter-million each month, 405 each hour,       one every nine seconds.

A devastating number of unwanted and unplanned animals are born each year without the guarantee of a forever home.  Each home found for these animals means one less home for an already-alive shelter animal facing euthanasia.  If you could do something simple to help end this needless destruction, wouldn't you?

PLEASE spay, neuter, adopt and spread the word!

We can all make a difference in the lives of these animals.
