Free to a Good Home? Finding good homes for unwanted pets is not easy, as far more pets are born each year than can ever be placed in homes. Just "getting rid" of an animal and passing it on to someone without careful investigation can condemn the dog or cat to an uncertain, sometimes brutal future of suffering and neglect. "FREE" puppies or kittens sometimes die as bait for pit bull fighters, food for boa constrictors or are peddled to laboratories for experiments. Please do not give pets away for "FREE" to someone you do not know. When finding a new home for an animal, be sure to ask an adoption fee from anyone you don't personally know. Any potential adopter should expect to pay an adoption fee and place a monetary value on the animal. While you may not be looking to "profit" from your animal, consider it a tool to safeguard the well-being of your four-legged friend. If you are truly not comfortable accepting money for your animal, have the adopter write a check to the charity of your or their choice, and you be responsible for mailing the check to the organization. Your animal trusts you with its life. Don't give any animal away for free.
